In a glorious career spanning over 30 years, Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif has received awards and recognition by several international and regional organizations.

Significant amongst this is the recent award he was conferred upon as the Islamic Banker of the Year 2009 at 16th Annual World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC). This award is unique as he the only banker to have received it twice, the first in2004.

The WIBC is convened under the Patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Islamic Banker of the Year was awarded to Adnan Ahmed Yousif  in his capacity as the President & Chief Executive Officer of Al Baraka Banking Group. in addition to this role leading the Group through the challenges of the global financial crisis, Mr. Yousif has also dedicated himself to several other key strategic initiatives in the broader interests of the Islamic finance industry. Furthermore, in his capacity as a Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks, Mr. Yousif has offered new proposals and espoused strong support for the future health of the banking industry.

In 2008, Mr. Adnan was nominated as the Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks. The Union of Arab Banks is headquartered in Lebanon and is the most important Arab organisation that promotes relationships of Arab banks with the rest of the world.
