The Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (IOF) and former Senegalese President His Excellency Abdou Diouf sent a letter to Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif, Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB), assuring him of the importance attached by IOF to the Francophone Banking Summit which will be held on 4th March in the French capital Paris. The summit is being organized by the Union of Arab Banks under official patronage of the French President Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy.
H.E Diouf valued the efforts of UAB aimed to strengthening cooperation between the Arab and Francophone financial and banking communities. He stressed that IOF was keen to participate actively in calling for the Summit and in taking an active part in its work program, reaffirming IOF strong support to the approach and efforts of the Union of Arab Banks at the Arab and international levels.
In his reply letter, Chairman of the Union of Arab Banks Mr. Adnan Ahmed Yousif stressed that UAB would continue to play its role in strengthening the relations between the Arab and Francophone banking communities and in encouraging the exchange of experiences and expertise at the highest level between them. Mr. Yousif added that he had asked the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks Mr. Wesam Hassan Fattouh to put in place a program with a time schedule for regular activities and events to be organized by the Union of Arab Banks in IOF countries, saying that the Francophone Banking Summit in Paris was the result of efforts and determination to bring together the varied and different expertise and experiences of the two communities.. Such activities and events make the Union of Arab Banks a bridge for understanding and communication.
