The 2011 Annual Arab Banking Conference of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) is different from the previous conferences in its approach to the crises, as UAB cannot ignore the current strategic events. Thus, it decided to overstep all obstacles that prevent searching for proper mechanisms to support the economies of Arab countries. The chosen title for our conference

«Future of the Arab World in Light of Recent Transitions» shows to what extent the UAB is willing to determine the economic role of our banks in facing these unprecedented changes, especially as they have proven their ability, strength and soundness in facing the international financial crises. Our conference should not simply identify the role, but it also has to look seriously for an action plan for the Arab banking sector to absorb the effects of the changes, especially in supporting small and medium enterprises.
